FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: How many girls are you looking to take at tryouts?
A: We do not have a set number.
Q: Can incoming freshmen tryout? How does that work with their schedule?
A: Yes! We love having freshmen on our team! Drill counts as their first period class. If they go to Kaysville Jr High, they walk over together after practice in the morning. If they go to another Jr High, then a parent needs to take them to school after practice.
Q: What GPA do you need to have to be on the team?
A: UHSAA requires athletes to maintain above a 2.0 GPA. We encourage D'Ettes to have a 3.0 or higher, but it is not required.
Q: What type of shoes do I need to wear to tryouts?
A: Any dance shoe is acceptable. You cannot tryout in bare feet.
Q: What do the D'Ettes do?
A: We perform at football and basketball games as well as community and service events. We compete during December and January.
Q: What are the costs associated with being a D'Ette?
A: We charge $1,000 for the year. This includes everything besides travel costs which are also $1,000 if we go on a trip in the Spring. Your $1,000 yearly fee includes shoes, backpack, leggings, practice tops, team jacket, tights, makeup, coach fees, camp, garment bag, and spirit wear. If you need help covering these fees, you need to communicate that with coach Kira. We never want anyone to not tryout because of finances.
Q: Is there a tryout fee?
A: No. Tryouts are free.
Q: Are there judges at tryouts?
A: Yes. There are 3 judges at tryouts as well as the coaches.
